Resistance seam welding machine can be thought of as "continuous spot welding." Instead of cylindrical electrodes, it uses rotating roller electrodes. As the workpiece moves between them, a series of overlapping spot welds are formed, creating a continuous and leak-tight seam.

Products Description

Resistance seam welding machine can be thought of as "continuous spot welding." Instead of cylindrical electrodes, it uses rotating roller electrodes. As the workpiece moves between them, a series of overlapping spot welds are formed, creating a continuous and leak-tight seam.

Our series of resistance seam welders is built on this principle, widely used wherever airtight and liquid-tight metal sheet joining is required. From fuel tanks and containers to radiators, mufflers, dishwasher liners, and stainless steel sinks, they deliver robust, aesthetically clean seams with high efficiency and automation.

Roller Electrodes for Continuous High Speed
Uses rotating disc-shaped rollers instead of stationary spot welding electrodes. Workpieces pass through continuously at speeds up to several meters per minute. For long straight or circular seams, seam welding offers overwhelming productivity advantages over point-by-point spot welding.

Overlapping Nuggets for a Sealed Joint
Unlike isolated spot welds, seam welding controls roller speed and current pulsing to create overlapping weld nuggets. This overlapping structure provides excellent airtight and liquid-tight performance - the ideal process for manufacturing fuel tanks, sealed containers, and more.

Flexible Control Modes
Choose between continuous seam welding (fully overlapping nuggets for sealing) or roll-spot welding (spaced nuggets for non-sealed reinforcement). Supports constant current, constant voltage, and multi-pulse control modes to suit different materials and thicknesses.

MFDC / AC Options
Available in AC (50Hz) and MFDC (1000Hz) configurations. AC models are proven and reliable; MFDC offers higher precision (≤1ms), more stable output, better energy efficiency - especially suitable for coated materials and heat-sensitive thin sheets.

Water Cooling for Sustained Operation
Continuous welding generates sustained heat in roller electrodes and transformers. Standard or optional recirculating water cooling ensures stable performance during long production runs and extends electrode life.

Automation-Ready
Integrates easily with automated production lines - auto loading/unloading, positioning fixtures, rotary tables, and more. One operator can monitor multiple machines, significantly reducing labor costs.

Broad Material and Thickness Range
Suitable for mild steel, stainless steel, galvanized sheet, aluminum alloys, and more. Thin sheet capacity ranges from 0.05mm up to 3mm and beyond (depending on model).

FAQ

Q: What's the difference between seam welding and spot welding?

A: Spot welding creates a single weld nugget at a fixed position. Seam welding uses rotating rollers to create a series of overlapping nuggets as the workpiece moves, forming a continuous seam. Seam welding is ideal for long joints and sealing applications.

Q: What's the difference between continuous seam welding and roll-spot welding?

A: Continuous seam welding produces overlapping nuggets for airtight/liquid-tight seals. Roll-spot welding produces separated nuggets without sealing requirements, primarily used for reinforcement or assembly.

Q: What sheet thickness can be seam welded?

A: Seam welding is primarily used for thin sheets. Typical range is from 0.05mm up to about 3mm. Seam welding significantly more than 3mm becomes difficult - other processes are recommended.

Q: What are the advantages of MFDC seam welders over AC models?

A: MFDC offers higher control precision (1ms vs 20ms), particularly beneficial for coated steels and thin sheets - less spatter, cleaner seams, higher thermal efficiency, and lower energy consumption.
